The name Maria has held significance through the centuries, from ancient Roman
society and Christian history to modern Arabic culture. Derived from the Roman name
Marius, which is linked to the god of war, Mars, the name Maria has evolved to
symbolize hope in many cultures.
This piece is a tribute to the spirit of Astor Piazzolla, who revolutionised tango music by
blending elements of jazz and classical music. His work continues to inspire how we
move musical traditions forward.
